Nitrogen is very common in plant care and is usually the highest percentage of a fertiliser mix. Nitrogen's main role is for the growth of the leaf of your lawn. There's a major component of chlorophyll which your lawn uses to make energy. The effectivness of Nitrogen is very visible because it has the most impact above ground. The second element of NPK is Phosphorus. Which is important for the root growth of your lawn. It is usually the lowest percentage of the elements. It cannot be understated the importance of Phosphorous for your lawn. As the root structure guides the overall plant health. Phosphorus moves slowly through the plant which is why only small amounts are needed. The last element of NPK is Potassium. Potassium is different from Nitrogen and Phosphorus because of its all-round nature. Potassium helps both above and below ground and is important for the overall health of the plant. Potassium plays several important roles. It regulates water uptake through the roots. Activates growth enzymes and helps your lawn use Nitrogen more efficiently. A key component of lawn care. Potassium helps your lawn withstand drought and disease. Fertilisers contain a variety of nutrients with NPK being the key elements. You'll find three numbers on the side of your fertiliser packaging. These represent the percentages of each of these key elements. Our Lawn Solutions Australia fertiliser. Has a ratio of 16 - 0.7 and 4. This means there is 16% Nitrogen, 0.7% Phosphorus and 4% Potassium. Always make sure that you use a balanced fertiliser, and make sure that you match your fertiliser to the season. In Winter we recommend a fertiliser with high Iron, to keep your lawn nice and green. And in Spring, we recommend a fertiliser with low Nitrogen. Always make sure that you follow your fertiliser's instructions, and apply at the recommended rate. We hope that you now know a little bit more about NPK, and its importance for the health of your lawn. Let's Connect! / jimboombaturfgroup / jimboombaturf / jimboombaturf / jimboombaturf
