A year ago I showed up to this island in my old boat with my dog Ronnie and a house I’d never seen. What started as a broken-down place at the edge of the world turned into the life I’d been chasing all along. A year later, the house is still standing — and so are we. What began with just me and my dog has grown into a life I didn’t know I was looking for. I’m now married to my dream girl, and we’re expecting our first baby this coming spring. We’ve lived through every season, every storm, and found good friends and neighbours that make this little island feel like home. The early days were rough — ripping apart a soaked, half-collapsed house just to get it standing again. Every board we fixed led to another surprise underneath. When Kelly came, the place finally started to feel alive. We spent fall cutting firewood, milling lumber, and chasing daylight. Then winter hit, and we learned what cold really means when your walls are half open and you’re hauling water by hand. We got through it though, with help from friends. Bit by bit, we cleared land, built fences, brought our first goats, sheep and pigs across the bay, and set up a gravity-fed water system. Come spring, we built the addition, and Kelly finally got her kitchen — a space that changed the whole house. It’s been one wild year out here. A lot of hard work, a lot of laughs, and more good days than bad ones. If you’ve been following since the start, thank you. If you’re new, this is where it all began.
