A Tour of my Flat in England! Comparing U.S. & U.K. Homes

I am an American Anglophile who loves Britain so much, I persuaded my dear husband to buy a second home in England. Our flat is in Cheltenham, a wonderful town on the border of our favorite area in Britain… THE COTSWOLDS! We have grown to love Cheltenham, and are excited to share this tour of our flat with you! The flat is in an Edwardian red brick home that was built around 1900. I’ve tried to point out differences in American vs. British homes. I’d love to hear your comments on what you find interesting or questions you have about things you see that make homes in the U.K. different than in the U.S.! It’s all a matter of personal opinion if these differences are “better” or “worse”. I like to embrace the differences an enjoy the adventure. Except when I encounter bathroom sinks with separate hot and cold taps. That just makes me cranky! Thankfully that is not the case in the bathrooms in our flat! PLEASE NOTE: the flat is currently occupied by a long-term tenant. We are not living in it, and it is not available for rent via AirBnB or VRBO or any “holiday let” site. It will not be a vacation rental, but we will keep it as an eventual home for us part of the year and a short-term rental the rest of the year.
