(इन्फॉरमेशन टेक्नोलजी) और आई.टी.ई.एस. (इन्फॉरमेशन टेक्नोलजी एनेबल्ड सर्विसेस) संस्थाओं का प्रवेश इंटरनेट से ही हुआ है। इनसे कई लोगों को रोजगार मिला है। कई देशों की आर्थिक स्थिति भी सुधरी है। ‘सोशल नेटवर्किंग’ (Social Networking) एक क्रांतिकारी खोज है। इसके कई साइट्स हैं। जैसे – फेसबुक, आरकुट, ट्विट्टर, लिंकडइन आदि। इन साइटों के कारण देश-विदेश के लोगों के खान-पान, वेश-भूषा, कला, संस्कृति आदि का प्रभाव हमारे समाज पर पड़ रहा है। भारत जैसे प्रगतिशील राष्ट्र ई-गवर्नेन्स (ई-प्रशासन) द्वारा बदलाव लाने की कोशिश कर रहे हैं। ई-गवर्नेन्स द्वारा सरकार के सभी कामकाज का विवरण, अभिलेख, सरकारी आदेश आदि लोगों को सूचित किये जाते हैं। इससे प्रशासन पारदर्शी बन सकता है। इस प्रकार इंटरनेट एक वरदान है। चिकित्सा, कृषि, अंतरिक्ष ज्ञान, विज्ञान, शिक्षा आदि सभी क्षेत्रों में इसका कमाल देखा जा सकता है। देश के रक्षादलों की कार्यवाही में इंटरनेट का बहुत बड़ा योगदान है। हाँ, यह भी सही है कि इंटरनेट यदि वरदान है, तो अभिशाप भी है। इंटरनेट की वजह से पैरसी, बैंकिंग फ्रॉड, हैकिंग (सूचना/खबरों की चोरी) आदि बढ़ रही है। मुक्त वेबसाइट, चैटिंग आदि से युवा पीढ़ी फँसती जा रही है। समय का दुरुपयोग हो रहा है। बच्चे अनुपयुक्त और अनावश्यक जानकारी प्राप्त कर रहे हैं। अतः लोगों को चाहिए कि इंटरनेट से सचेत रहें। इंटरनेट क्रांति Summary in English Today’s age is the age of the internet. Due to this, the internet has become an indispensable part of today’s technological lifestyle. Through the internet, we can buy goods and also pay our bills, while sitting at home. This saves us time. Internet banking allows us to make transactions on the internet, and to send money to any corner of the world. Through ‘video-conferencing’ one can have a discussion with people located in any part of the world. In India, the institutions in the fields of I.T. (Information Technology) and I.T.E.S. (Information Technology Enabled Services) have been given a boost by the entry of the internet. This has provided employment to thousands and has also improved the financial situation of many countries. Social networking has been a revolutionary invention. There are many social networking sites like Facebook, Orkut, Twitter, LinkedIn and others. Due to these sites, we now have more knowledge about the cuisine, dressing habits, art and culture of other countries. These are also having a deep impact on the culture and society of our country. Many developing countries like India are trying to harness the potential of e-governance. Through e-governance, the working of the government, the rules and legislation, and government orders and news can be shared easily with the public at large. This can make governance transparent. Thus, the internet is a blessing. In the fields of science, agriculture, space exploration, medicine, and education, the internet has been a great invention. The internet also plays a big role in the functioning of the armed forces and the security agencies of the country. Although it is true that the internet is a blessing, it also has some pitfalls. Due to the internet, instances of piracy, banking fraud, and hacking have greatly increased. The youth is getting sucked into spending a lot of their time on the internet. Time is increasingly being wasted. Children are accessing useless and unnecessary information from the internet. Therefore, people should be careful while using the internet.
