Dr. Ally here. So if you have persistent pain after having an endometriosis surgery, don't worry. It is very common. So we know that endometriosis is a systemic inflammatory disease process. So what can happen with endo is you have the release of we call pro inflammatory cytokines, which really means increase of inflammation in the pelvis. And this happens for quite some time, right? Whenever the endometriosis started. So what happens is you get changes in both your pelvic nerves and your pelvic muscles. Pelvic muscles do go into this guarding state because of it, where they're spastic. And the nerves are really swimming in inflammation. So they get hypersensitized and irritated. So even when your endometriosis is surgically removed, Well, then after that, sometimes you need to then down regulate the nerves and release the pelvic floor muscles. And that will help a lot with your persistent pain after endometriosis surgery.
