ENG: "Padre de la Federación" (Father of the Federation) is a patriotic and federalist song by Roberto Rimoldi Fraga that celebrates José Gervasio de Artigas, an important figure during the Latin American wars of independence. Born in Montevideo, he liberated numerous provinces in the La Plata region from the Spanish Empire, creating the League of Free Peoples and receiving the titles of "Protector of the Free Peoples" and "Chief of the Orientals". The league consisted of the provinces of the Banda Oriental, Cordoba, Misiones, Corrientes, Entre Rios and Santa Fe, lasting 6 years until its partition between the Portuguese Empire and the United Provinces of the Rio de la Plata.
