But after finally playing through the Metroid Prime trilogy for the first time in 2025, I came away with a very different takeaway. In this video, I talk through my full experience with Metroid Prime 2: Echoes from start to finish and explain why it resonated with me more than the original Metroid Prime. From the way the story is communicated through the Luminoth, to the oppressive atmosphere of Dark Aether, to the constant presence of Dark Samus as an antagonist, Echoes felt more focused, more intense, and more rewarding to play. I break down what I think Echoes improves over Prime 1, including level flow, boss design, save placement, and how the light and dark world mechanic changes exploration and progression. I also talk about standout areas like Torvus Bog and Sanctuary Fortress, the Guardian boss fights, and why the final stretch of the game left such a strong impression on me. This isn’t meant to tear down the original Metroid Prime, I loved that game too.
