Mark Morriss interview in the studio at West College Scotland, Greenock - Daily Record acoustic sessions at West College Scotland, Greenock Words by Paul English and video by Henrik Brandt Singer songwriter Mark Morriss, formerly of The Bluetones, releases his second solo album next month. The singer, who fronted the classy Britpop outfit from 1993 until they disbanded in 2011, is currently on a UK tour ahead of the release of A Flash of Darkness on 24 February. Mark performed two songs from the new album plus one of his band's best-known singles, Marblehead Johnson, in an exclusive live session for the Daily Record. And in our short interview, he revealed how his music career has taken an unlikely turn thanks to the children's books of Little Britain star David Walliams. Mark plays solo at Aberdeen's Cafe Drummonds and Dundee's Buskers on 1 & 2 February. He'll be joined by members of The Bluetones on 28 February at The Admiral in Glasgow, Edinburgh's Electric Circus on 1 March and Bakers Nightclub in Kilmarnock on 2 February. With thanks to West College Scotland, Greenock Campus.
