Sir Robert McAlpine has been appointed as main works contractor to support our £1.25 billion investment in green steelmaking at Port Talbot steelworks. Responsible for managing the main, civil, structural and building works required for the construction of this project, the Sir Robert McAlpine team will help us to build one of the largest and most sophisticated electric arc furnace facilities in the world. Scheduled to begin in Summer 2025 (pending approval), this project will provide opportunities to local people and open the door to a new era of sustainable steelmaking in the UK.
