Last month, Democrats passed H.R. 1, a wide-ranging bill that intends to expand voting access and requiring "dark money" groups to disclose their donors. The bill is pending in the Senate, where Republicans oppose it and moderate Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia has refused to work around the filibuster to pass the bill. Meanwhile, a new recording shows conservative groups working with Republicans in Congress found the bill was hard to build a message against and instead plan to kill the bill by pressuring lawmakers.
