The border line between Turkey and Hatay State was abolished with the decision taken in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey on 16 June 1939. On July 23, 1939, the joining of the motherland was completed with the departure of the last French troops from the barracks and the hoisting of the Turkish flag at the barracks in a ceremony attended by the French troops.
