India has called out US President Donald Trump's multiple threats of imposing secondary tariffs on New Delhi for buying Russian Oil. On August 5, President Trump again gave an ultimatum to India, saying Washington would impose more tariffs on New Delhi within 24 hours. India's External Affairs Ministry, in a statement issued August 4, said: "India began importing from Russia because traditional supplies were diverted to Europe. The United States at that time actively encouraged such imports by India." The MEA's statement also called out the double standards of the US, adding: "Where the United States is concerned, it continues to import from Russia uranium hexafluoride for its nuclear industry, palladium for its EV industry, fertilizers as well as chemicals." It added: "The targeting of India is unjustified and unreasonable." Meanwhile, the Indian government is also planning to protect its exporters, if no trade deal is reached.
