My analysis of the trailer of Young Offenders Series 4 is based on years of study of filmmaking and my application of these principles in my own films and animations. Making your characters stand out from the background in the raw footage makes a world of difference at the editing stage. That depends on blocking, ie positioning of the characters in the frame, costume lighting and camera position. Colours are used to distinguish characters and create variety and to set the mood. Red can be passionate, impulsive, which matches the character's personality. My interest is in the director's intent, when choosing one shot over another. There is always scope for a director to interpret the storyboard image in their own particular way.
