Marcal is the budding Brazilian star act you may have heard of, commanding recognition post pandemic with his highly addictive loops. That’s certainly true in the case of Radio Slave, who played one of the former’s tracks on his show for Rinse FM and sought out the talent responsible. A serendipitous (online) meeting that blossomed into a deeper connection and had Marcal signed to Rekids, Enemy Records and Token. And here they are a little down the line and all the luckier for it. Marcal’s focus is on intelligent and minimal builds, those that work by way of rhythmic complexity and highly developed textures, brainy techno with a pinch of mischief.
