Woe Is Me is a song of repentance. When I reached rock bottom I had to face the seven demons of self: Pride, Greed, Lust, Envy, Gluttony, Wrath, and Sloth and subdue them. I also had to look myself in the eye and admit to my own bullshit. Then, after being stripped completely bare of who and what I thought I was, I was able to begin putting myself back together brick by brick. This song was written at that turning point in my life. The Hebrew word for repentance is “Teshuvah,” which literally translates To Return. It signifies a return to one’s true, good essence, or a, action oriented U-turn toward The Most High (Yah).
