This scarce 1926 record marks seventeen years of sharing my collection on You tube. It seems right that my first dance band upload of 2026 should be a special record from 1926. Aco was a modest label under the auspices of Vocalion. At least it didn't hide dance bands under a pseudonym as did some of their labels, for example Guardsman or Coliseum. "Honey Bunch" features an impressive Max Goldberg trumpet solo and represents Jack Payne's first vocal on record. "You" was composed by the popular song writing team of Campbell-Connelly. It bears a close resemblance to another popular tune of the day, which also had a three letter title. This was one of only three records bearing Jack Payne's name issued in 1926, with the other two being featured on Duophone. Whilst it seems a pity Jack Payne's visit to the Vocalion studios resulted in just one record being issued, particularly as he led a band at the luxurious Hotel Cecil, it makes me treasure it all the more.
