Dynamite Cop (1999) by Sega AM1 is a 3D beat 'em up game in the parody genre, because it's hard to find anything here that could be described as sensible. The game begins with an intro in which a group of pirates led by Wolf Hongo hijacks a cruise ship, along with the president's daughter. Our task, of course, will be to resolve the situation by force, because nothing solves disputes like a lead bullet, right? No, of course, the squad is sent without any weapons, for so-called manual pacification XD. In Dynamite Cop, we have three heroes at our disposal: Bruno Delinger, Jean Ivy, and Eddie Brown. Apart from their appearance, the heroes differ in their list of moves, grabs, and animations. I don't know anything about differences in stats such as damage or speed. Both punches and kicks have their own separate buttons. In addition, there are jumps and grabbing objects. The game has numerous combinations and special attacks performed with the help of movement directions, with the most impressive combinations being those in grabs. They sometimes consist of multiple breaks or chokes on the poor opponent and look spectacular. In addition, there are many types of items that we can use against pirates, and there are really a lot of them here. By many, I mean really many, and I must admit that this is one of the biggest attractions of this game. Here, we can beat up pirates with melee weapons, firearms, various types of mannequins, harpoons, apples, baguettes, fish, laser weapons, mini atomic bombs, and so on. When it comes to the basics of gameplay, Dynamite Cop is a really solid title, as the combat and controls are both satisfying and simple. The game also features many quick time events where you have to press a button at the right time to get out of a tight spot with an advantage. It adds some variety, but in my opinion, it would be better to add one more level to extend the gameplay a bit, but what do I know? Graphically, what can I say? All games from the early 3D era, to put it bluntly, have not aged very well, and this is also the case here, although it does not look as bad as some titles, e.g., from Playstation. It wasn't until 2001 that consoles showed graphics that are still acceptable today, and one such example is Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. So there's no point in writing about it... you'll either like it or you won't. The music here is really bland, and almost every track has very similar tones. There is not enough variety and dynamics here, which makes the soundtrack simply boring. The game is very easy, and this gameplay is basically our first attempt :P Admittedly, it is spectacular and funny, and the design of the pirates we fight is simply comical and out of place in many cases. Unfortunately, Dynamite Cop is very short and does not offer anything special that would attract you to continue playing. Despite this, the game is addictive and provides a lot of entertainment, so it can be said that it is one of the better early 3D beat 'em ups, of which there are not too many, by the way. We personally recommend it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Music by Karl Casey @ White Bat Audio"
