This video is filmed and edited by Università Telematica Internazionale UNINETTUNO www.uninettunouniversity.net. Recognized as one of the "fathers of the internet," sharing this title with American computer scientist Bob Kahn with whom he invented the TCP/IP protocol; Cerf is a renown American computer scientist. From 1973 to 1978 Cerf and Kahn funded and developed TCP/IP communications and contributed greatly to the Internet as we know it today. Cerf was instrumental in the development of the first commercial e-mail system (MCI Mail) connected to the Internet. In addition, he was instrumental in funding and forming ICANN from the start. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
