Congress recently passed the HEROES Act, meant to give Americans a second stimulus check. This bill seeks to further assist those negatively affected by the pandemic. There is a lot to digest with the HEROES Act, but the Act does five things: 👉 Authorizes a second recovery rebate check of up to $6,000 👉 Extends unemployment benefits increased in the CARES Act to January 2021 👉 Extends the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) to 24 weeks instead of 8 👉 Extends federal student loan interest suspension and payments until October 2021, plus possibly cancels $10,000 of student loan debt 👉 Provides more money for essential workers It’s not likely the Senate will pass the second stimulus package, but the Act provides hope that Congress will do something to provide further aid to those hurt by COVID-19.
