Planning to travel to China? In this quick and essential travel guide, I break down the fundamental necessities you need to get around as a foreigner travelling in China. I used the following products: E-SIM I used Jetpac (https://www.jetpacglobal.com/) but it was a bit unreliable. I have previously used Airalo and found it to be a better service. VPN I recommend Astril VPN set to StealthVPN mode. It worked perfectly. https://www.astrill.com/ TRANSLATION I used the translation app DeepL (https://www.deepl.com/) and Google Translate for scanning CHinese Characters. Alipay has their own translator which was good too. OTHER ESSENTIAL APPS WeChat - absolutely necessary and be sure to link your payment cards before you go. Alipay - useful as a secondary payment method (link your cards) and allows you to order DiDi (China's version of Uber) DEBIT CARDS I used WISE and REVOLUT for local currency cards linked to WeChat (I did not use the physical card once). You can use these cards to take cash out of an ATM.
