Hello folks, This video is the 200th posted to date, and, because of that mile stone, I thought I’d do something different, so, today, I went out and about, with my video camera. The video location is Mount St Bernard Abbey, a Roman Catholic monastery belonging to the Trappist Order, Leicestershire, England. It was founded in 1835 on 227 acres and was granted the status of an abbey in 1848. The abbey was the first permanent monastery to be founded in England since the Reformation, and is the sole Trappist house in England. The monks brew the only Trappist beer in Britain. Amongst the visitors to the monastery were William Wordsworth, William Gladstone, Florence Nightingale, Alec Guinness, Justin Fashanu… and even Charles Dickens is reputed to have spent some time in retreat at the abbey.
