In 1974, Twin Falls was the center of the world's attention as Evel Knievel prepared for his legendary 'leap of faith' across the Snake River Canyon. But decades before the Skycycle X-2, early pioneers faced a different kind of challenge here—a 'Cruel Trick' of nature where they walked right along life-saving water, but it was 500 feet down and completely out of reach. In this episode of the Divine Compass, I’m taking a detour and going 'off script' to explore the beauty and history of the Magic Valley. From the engineering marvel of the Perrine Bridge to the thundering heights of Shoshone Falls (the Niagara of the West), sometimes the most miraculous sights are found on the unplanned detours. Whether it’s a visionary like I.B. Perrine turning a desert into a garden or a grandmother on a bike path finding a sunset that feels like another planet, Twin Falls is a place where bravado falls short, but faith carries you across. If you’ve ever felt like you’re in a free-fall, this one is for you. Chapters: 0:00 The Land of the Unplanned Leap 0:26 Surrendering the Plan 0:47 The Cruel Trick: Pioneer History 2:01 I.B.
