**DISCLAIMER: I am a BEGINNER drummer teaching myself drums after being a bass player for 10 years, with this in mind please be kind and constructive with criticism, I’m trying to slowly but surely progress and keep my motivation up for practising! Thanks all! ** Yet another feeble attempt to pay homage to and highlight the amazing Andy Rourke’s bass playing with The Smiths - love Mike Joyce’s drumming on this one too and figured it’d be a challenge for me to learn a more up-tempo one with the fairly simple but cool fills. As I’ve mentioned previously Morrissey is my all time favourite artist and The Smiths were what got me into playing bass - Andy Rourke’s melodic lines were what first hooked me and made me realise the incredible potential for the instrument. This one is another of his fantastic driving and melodic bass lines - I’ve always preferred this John Peel version of “What Difference Does It Make?” to the single version, particularly regarding Mike Joyce’s drumming which is a lot more full on in this version than the studio album version. Again I tried to get as close to Andy Rourke’s original tone as I could - with my beautiful lawsuit era 1984 Tokai Hardpuncher P-bass, flat wounds and a pick. Between the current high action on the Tokai and the fact I’m not used to pick playing meant this was more of a work out for me than it should have been! Definitely need to put in the hours on my pick work and take the bass for a set up too! Anyway, enough of my excuses! Thanks for watching, feedback gratefully received :)
