For as long as I can remember, I've lusted after the Rolex Submariner. And on my 30th birthday, this grail watch (ref. 116610 LN) became a reality. However, fast forward over a decade, and this cornerstone of my collection is now no more. Over this time, I've owned two-tone versions, Tudor Prince Oysterdate alternatives, homages of all levels, and came close to pulling the trigger on some vintage 5512s, 1680s, and many more. In 2020, Rolex updated their no-date with the 41mm reference 124060, and what I thought was a size increase put me off even trying it...but how wrong I was. Today I take a deep dive into the evolution of the Rolex Submariner, why it's so iconic, how the 124060 is their best Submariner yet, and why it wears even better, despite the increase in diameter. Will it win me back?
