Saladin captured the town and castle before the Crusaders recaptured it and added onto the original fortifications. This particular fortress is the finest example of a 12th-century Boas architecture, which mixes the castrum-type with the turris-type castle. You can also find here the Phoenician royal necropolis and the Roman amphitheater in addition to the Temple of the Obelisks."
