On Monday, PM Modi, replying to a debate on the President’s Budget session speech, said the country needs to be protected against what he called ‘andolanjeevi’ or those who survive on protests. This hasn’t gone down well with city-based protesters, who have been gathering at Matka Chowk in hundreds since January 26. The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
