I only needed light duty shelves. So, I thought I'd try something different. What I came up with is a fully adjustable lumber rack! It uses a french cleat system for lumber storage. FRENCH CLEATS are simply a mounting system made by using two beveled pieces of wood that mate with one another. One piece of wood is attached to the wall or mounting surface; the other is attached to the thing being mounted (our lumber storage corbel / brackets in this case). By building this lumber rack / wood rack with french cleats and adjustable corbels, I can create the spacing I desire for different lumber lengths. BE SURE TO CHECK OUT OUR OTHER SHOP VIDEOS: Table Saw Station On Wheels:    • Table Saw Station On Wheels! ($70 SHOP CAR...   Saw Dust Funnel:    • SAW DUST "FUNNEL"--Miter Saw Dust Collecti...   Miter Saw Table Build:    • MITER SAW TABLE BUILD (Including Additiona...   ADJUSTABLE LUMBER RACK / FRENCH CLEAT HOW-TO: 1) Rip down 3/4" plywood into desired widths for french cleats 2) Bevel top edge of 4" plywood strips 3) Mount 4' plywood strips to wall studs (I temporarily fastened them with brads; then pre-drilled and drove 2-1/2" deck screws directly into studs) 4) Cut corbel shapes out of 5-1/2" plywood strips. I used the miter saw to notch a 45 degree cut into the short edge of the piece, then a 90 degree cut down to meet this. This lift a hook-shaped notch. I also added a 60 degree cut to the underside just for a nicer tapered appearance. 5) Gang cut 16 or so of these for lumber storage. 6) Attach these to two sides of 1" cutoffs with glue and brads 7) Drop adjustable corbels onto the french cleat system on the wall.
