I felt the need for a new face cream, so this week I tried a 1930's recipe for "Cucumber Cream". It makes for an unscented, silky smooth cold cream with a lovely green hue. Other Cold Cream Recipes I've Tried: • Cold Creams, Lotions, and Salves Recipe Notes -To reduce the chance of mold growth, I've replaced the fresh cucumber juice with cucumber extract and added in a preservative. You could make it with fresh juice and/or without a preservative but be aware it will be much more prone to spoilage. (It may only last a few days when using fresh juice. If using extract and no preservative, I'd guess at a week or two? But that of course depends on a number of factors and it could potentially spoil more quickly.) -The only other change I've made to the original formulation is replacing the spermaceti (whale oil) with jojoba oil. -The mica is purely optional and just adds a bit of colour. (The original recipe was also dyed green.) -The product is unscented, but you could add in a few drops of essential oil if you prefer. Peppermint would be nice with this recipe. -If you have a nut allergy or just prefer not to use Almond oil, any liquid oil can be substituted. Grapeseed oil would work particularly well with this recipe. FIND ME ELSEWHERE: My Instagram: / thelonghairedflapper Enjoyed this video?
