SWFL Eagles 3-17-26. INTRUDER RUNS Into The WRONG JUVIE! E26 Is FIERCE In Nest Defense!

E26 is perched in the front pines when an intruder eagle arrives, coming into view above the nest, landing in the W upper branches. E26 flies to the nest, defending the nest tree and protecting leftover prey that has been on the nest since the morning. The intruder perches above, with E26 mantling in the nest. The intruder drops down to the lower section of the attic branch, and E26 moves quickly toward the intruder in defensive posture, vocalizing. The intruder moves to the inner limb. On Cam3, E26 moves to the veranda to continue warning the intruder, then moves back to the nest. CamOps provides close views of the intruder, including feet, face/head, and the distinct plumage on the front right of the intruder. E26 continues to try to eat the leftovers that have been on the nest all day. The intruder moves to the veranda, checking out what E26 has. The intruder vocalizes, and E26 continues to warn. The intruder leaves instead of trying to take what E26 has. E26 watches over after the intruder leaves. Based on vocals, I believe this intruder to be a female. Based on plumage, the intruder likely turned five this season. There is a small amount of dark feathers around what was once the eye stripe (see thumbnail), and a small amount of dark marks still in the tail feathers. Some of that may still molt out, and some may remain. Plumage can be highly variable, so I included helpful links below the time stamps to assist. All is good at the nest; M15 & E26 perch close to each other in the upper branches. Time stamps below.
