I’m actively looking for art techniques that don’t require drawing skills or training—things that anyone can do and that can help us unwind during the process. I’ve noticed that even people who don’t usually have an interest in art often doodle during meetings or long phone calls. Why not use this as a way to relax? Under the term “Art Therapy,” many things come up, but those are usually guided by a trained professional. I’m looking for exercises that anyone can do on their own, without the need for someone to lead the session. As the weather gets nicer and the sun shines more, one of those days, the shadows cast by my houseplants onto the floor caught my eye. I grabbed some paper, a marker, ink, and paint—whatever I had—and started drawing along the lines. As you can see in the video. At first, it seemed like a complicated shadow, but I got lost in the joy of the process. After a while, my mind wasn’t racing, I wasn’t thinking about work, what to cook, or anything else—just focusing on following the lines and painting the shadowed parts. This practice can also be done in the evening or on a cloudy day; all you need is a lamp. In the second part of the video, I show that it’s not just about the basic painting, but you can make an update. I paint the background, add colors, and let my creativity flow, experimenting. This process activates different things within you. You can also try this exercise with children—just be sure to use large paper and thick markers, or ink pens with brushes, or diluted acrylic paint. While this exercise doesn’t remove negative stress from our lives, it can provide a few moments of relief when our restless minds won’t let us sit in silence. Happy creating, and see you next time.
