#motovlog #adventure #travel #vlog The Kali Gandaki Corridor is one of Nepal’s most important north–south transport and trade routes, following the course of the Kali Gandaki River. It is being developed as part of Nepal’s national highway network and is seen as a strategic trade and infrastructure project connecting India and China through Nepal. 🛣️ Overview Full Name: Kali Gandaki Corridor (Kaligandaki Corridor Highway) Length: Approximately 435 km (270 miles) Route: From Korala (Mustang, near the Chinese border) → through Jomsom, Beni, Baglung, Kushma, Waling, Syangja, Palpa, Butwal → to Sunauli (Indian border). Endpoints: North: Korala Pass (Mustang) – connects to China’s Tibet Autonomous Region. South: Sunauli (Rupandehi) – connects to India’s Uttar Pradesh state. 🏗️ Purpose and Importance Trade and Transit: Forms part of the Trans-Himalayan Multi-Dimensional Connectivity Network under Nepal–China cooperation. Provides an alternative trade route between India and China through Nepal. Economic Development: Promotes tourism, agriculture, and local industries in western and mid-western Nepal. Expected to stimulate growth in districts like Mustang, Myagdi, Parbat, Syangja, Palpa, and Rupandehi. Strategic Significance: Enhances Nepal’s geopolitical position between its two giant neighbors. Serves as a key north-south economic corridor alongside others like the Karnali Corridor and Koshi Corridor. 🚜 Current Status: Large sections of the corridor are already operational and graveled, but some stretches (especially in Mustang and mountainous areas) are still under upgrading or blacktopping. The project is under the supervision of Nepal’s Department of Roads. Development is supported by Nepal government funding and foreign aid/loans.
