After weeks along the beaches of Malawi Mbeya is the first big city across the border into Tanzania. People are abundant. From dancing in truck beds to spilling onto the highway. Roads are soft with huge ruts from the heavy trucks. We watch a man shovel broken bits of concrete into a pot hole at the entrance to a Total fuel station. Mangoes are delivered on heads, charcoal in pull carts. Life happens along the road in front of hundreds of small shops selling everything from tires to packages of food.
