Day 2 Phakding To Namche Bazaar - EBC & Gokyo Lakes Circuit - Himalayan Trek, Nepal 2022

We head to Namche Bazaar, the capital of the region. There is a sting in the tail with an 800m climb at the end of the day. Known as the 'stairway to heaven' it is a steep climb delivering us to Namche Bazaar, the main hub of the Khumbu region in the Nepalese Himalayas. The Gokyo Lakes & Everest Base Camp circuit is a slightly longer route than the traditional EBC trek. It detours from the normal route and heads up the Gokyo valley to Gokyo. Here there are stunning blue lakes, and a steep climb up Gokyo Ri at 5347m, with some of the best views of Mount Everest you will find. From Gokyo you cross the Ngozumpa glacier (longest glacier in Nepal) and the Cho La pass back into the Khumbu valley, and then head for base camp via Gorak Shep.
