(Verse 1: The Upper Room) The moon was hanging low and heavy o’er the city wall, Thirteen men gathered in a quiet upper hall. The dusty sandals kicked away, the water in the bowl, He washed the feet of every man to cleanse the weary soul. The bitter herbs were on the plate, the story had been told, But a newer story started there, more precious than the gold. (Chorus) Oh, the bread is broken, the wine is poured, The final feast of the living Lord. One will run and one will stay, And one will give the life away. It’s the shadow of the hill, it’s the light within the room, The meal that started everything before the empty tomb. (Verse 2: The Covenant) He took the loaf and blessed it, said "This is my body given," A bridge across the chasm, reaching down to us from heaven. He passed the cup of crimson red and held it to the light, "A covenant in my own blood is signed and sealed tonight." But Judas felt the silver coins like ice against his palm, While Jesus looked him in the eye with a terrifying calm. (Verse 3: The Cup of Suffering) In the shadows of the olives, he fell down on his knees, While a heavy, hollow sorrow drifted through the trees. He saw the cup of trembling, filled with every dark design, And said, "Father, let it pass, but let your will be mine." He drank the bitter dregs of death, he drank the nails and wood, He swallowed every shadow so the light could bring the good. From the garden to the hilltop, he carried every drop, Until he drained the cup of wrath and made the crying stop. (Verse 4: The Descent from the Wood) The hours stretched like shadows while he hung against the sky, The King of all the ages was the one who had to die. As the Friday moon was rising, they came to break the bond, To carry him in silence to the silence of beyond. They took him from the iron nails, they took him from the tree, With hands that shook with sorrow and with hearts that couldn't see. He was cold beneath the starlight, he was quiet in the gloom, As they carried hope on shoulders to the entrance of the tomb. (Verse 5: The Saturday Silence) The Friday sun went down in blood, the heavy stone was rolled, The Sabbath bells were ringing, but the story went untold. A Roman seal upon the rock, a guard before the door, The hope they held for three long years was washed upon the shore. But deep within the hollow earth, where eyes could never see, The King was holding keys of death to set the captives free. (Verse 6: The Sunday Dawn & Ascension) The morning mist was frozen when the ground began to shake, The iron power of the tomb was destined now to break. The stone was tossed like summer dust, the light came rushing in, He stepped out in the garden with a victory over sin. He showed the scars upon his hands, then rose up through the blue, To take his seat in glory with a kingdom made for you. No longer bound by gravity, he rose into the light, To shine forever as the sun and banish every night! (Outro) Take the bread, drink the wine... Love is on the finish line. The cup is full, the night is deep, A promise that he’s gonna keep. He rose to the sky, he’s alive tonight,.. The King of the Morning, the Lord of the Light...
