After a new law, passed by Israel’s Knesset, settlers now have the right to buy land individually in the West Bank, the Palestinian territory occupied by Israel since 1967. A project called E1 is back on track. First launched in the 1990s, then halted by international objections, Donald Trump’s removal of sanctions against settlement development changes everything. The project could cut the West Bank in two, end the chance of a Palestinian state, and result in a town named after the US President.
