콴타스 여객기 조종실|Qantas Airliner Cockpit

호주 출장에서 이색 경험을 두 가지 하였습니다. 하나는 콴타스 여객기 조정실에 들어가서 비행기를 조종하는 것을 본 것이고, 또 하나는 멜버른에서 소 바비큐를 시식한 것입니다. 1976년에 호주 골드 코스트에서 열린 가트너 그룹의 IT 심포지엄에 참가하고, 일본의 후꾸오까에서 업무를 보기 위해 브리즈번에서 콴타스 여격기에 탑승하였습니다. 그 당시 그 노선은 주로 일본인 신혼 여행객이 탑승하는 비행기라 비지니스 클라스 승객이 Dragonfly을 포함하여 두 명밖에 없었습니다. Dragonfly는 술을 즐기지 아니하고 또 소식을 하는 편이라 캐빈 승무원의 서비스를 받을 일이 별로 없었습니다. 승무원이 몇 번 뭘 좀 드시겠는냐고 물어도 그 때마다 No, thank you만 하고 있으니, 승무원이 오히려 불안해 할 정도의 상황이였습니다. 한참이 지난 후 승무원이 닥아와서 조종실에 가보겠느냐고 물었고 무료하던 참에 흔케이 그렇게 하자고 하였습니다. 그렇게 승무원을 따라 난생 처음 여객기 조종실에 가게 되었고, 자동 모드로 비행 중이라 기장도 바쁘지 아니하여 간단한 대화도 나누었습니다. 꽤 오랫 동안 있었는데 색다른 경험이라 지금도 가끔 생각이 납니다. 1990년에 호주 멜버른에서 호주 텔레콤이 주관하는 망 관리 세미나가 열렸는데, Dragonfly가 그 세미나에 참가하고, 한국의 망 관리 계획을 발표하였습니다. 세미나 중에 기술 투어 일정이 포함되어 있어서 호주의 원시 야생을 경험한 후 점심 식사를 위해 큰 농장에 갔었습니다. 도착하니 그 농장에서 사육한 소 한마리를 바비큐하여 달아 놓고 서비스를 시작하였는데, 줄을 서서 닥아가는 중에 Dragonfly 앞에 선 사람들이 모두 쇠고기를 먹지 않는 회교인들이라 Dragonfly가 운 좋게 그 바비큐를 시식하게 되었습니다. 시드니를 보지 아니하고는 호주를 보았다고 할 수 없으며, 세계적인 미항답게 정말 좋은 곳이라 생각됩니다. 몇 번 가본 적이 있는데, 특히 시드니 항구 주위는 언제 보아도 좋았고 킹즈 크로스에서 먹은 한식과 돌아오는 길에 만난 택시 기사가 한국 사람이어서 기억에 남습니다. 하루 정도 시간이 되어 불루 마운틴스를 방문한 것은 금상첨화라 할 수 있겠습니다. 그레이트 베리어 리프는 세계인 모두가 지켜할 만한 가치가 있다고 생각됩니다. 그 그레이트 베리어 리프가 지구 온난화로 위기에 처해 있으니 매우 아타까운 일입니다. I had two unique experiences on a business trip in Australia. One is watching fly an airplane in a Qantas airliner cockpit and the other is tasting a cow barbecue in Melbourne. In 1976, I attended the Gartner Group IT Symposium on the Australian Gold Coast and boarded the Qantas airliner in Brisbane to work in Fukuoka, Japan. At that time, the flight was mainly for Japanese honeymooners, so there were only two business class passengers including me. I don't enjoy alcohol and eat a little food, so I didn't have much to do with the cabin crew. No matter how many times the crew asked me to eat, no, thank you each time, the crew was rather nervous. After a while, the crew came up and asked if I would go to the cockpit, and I was willing to do so. I followed the crew in the cockpit for the first time after being born. The flight was flying in automatic mode, so the captain wasn't busy. I have been a pretty long time in the cockpit and it's a different experience, so now I sometimes think about it. In 1990, Australia Telecom hosted a network management seminar in Melbourne, Australia, where I participated and presented Korea's network management plan. The technical tour schedule was included during the seminar, so after experiencing Australia's native wilderness, we went to a large farm for lunch. When we arrived, they had prepared a service by barbecuing one of the cows raised on the farm. While I was waiting in line, all the people in front of me were Muslims who did not eat beef, so I was lucky to taste the barbecue. You can't see Australia without seeing Sydney and I think it's a really nice place like a world-class port. I've been in Sydney a few times and it's always nice to see especially around Sydney Harbor. I remember the Korean food I ate at King's Cross and the Korean taxi driver I met on my way back to the hotel. Visiting Blue Mountains in a day was a very good chance. The Great Barrier Reef is worth making it safe for everyone in the world. The Great Barrier Reef has been endangered by global warming and it is pity. #인간 #인생 #세상만사
