Heavy Train Makes A Run Up A Steep Grade With 4 Locomotives & Stalls Out On A Curve! The Train Has To Reverse Down The Hill & Make A Second Run. See If They Make It. Includes Crossing A Giant Trestle Bridge Over The River In Batavia, Ohio. Short Line Railroad Action This is a heavy rock train on the Cincinnati Eastern Railroad. This video starts at a railroad crossing on the eastern edge of Mount Orab, Ohio. We see the whole train crossing Eastwood Road. The train shut down for the night just a few minutes later. This is actually Part 2 for the video that I posted of this train having to double a hill near Seaman, Ohio. The train shut down just east of Williamsburg, Ohio and an additional 2 locomotives were brought to it and tied onto the front. This was to give it 4 locomotives to get the train up Williamsburg Hill. Next we go to 4th Street in Williamsburg. This is the next day. The train starts up the hill and gets about half way past me when it stalls out due to the rails being wet. The trains backs down the hill and then takes a second run. This time it goes faster and makes it over the grade. Then we go to Afton where the train puts 3 of the locomotives on the rear to go down the long hill into the Batavia valley. We see the train start down the hill at Summit Road and then we see it crossing the giant bridge over the East Fork Of The Little Miami River in Batavia. After that we go to Main Street in Batavia where the old train station used to be. The train exchanged the loaded cars for empties and went back up the hill eastbound. 2 of the locomotives took the loads west for unloading at Milford, Ohio. We see the empty train go past the location of the old train station and then I got it going down the hill in Williamsburg. The Norfolk Southern "Peavine" line in Ohio was built in stages between 1876 and 1884 as the Cincinnati & Eastern Railway. Originally a narrow-gauge line designed to haul coal, it opened from Batavia Junction to Batavia in 1876, reached Winchester by 1877, and finally connected to Portsmouth, Ohio in 1884.
