NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED - (Motown 1046 (withdrawn) and Atco 6270) Between December 1958 and June 1963, the Skyliners would record for five different labels but are most notably known for their charting singles on Calico Record; 'Since I Don't Have You', 'This I Swear', 'It Happened Today' and 'Pennies From Heaven'. In 1961, Jimmy began to also record as a solo act and then in 1963, the original Skyliners disbanded. The groups manger, Joe Rock, assembled a new line up of singers for three singles issued on Jubilee in 1965 and 1966. In 1974, Jimmy Beaumont and three of the four other original Skyliners would regroup for one single on Capitol Records. Jimmy continued to perform and record with several different other Skyliners group members until his passing at the age of 76 on October 7, 2017. At Capitol Records Studios in New York City in November 1962 at what was the original Skyliners last recording date as a group, four songs were recorded ('Comes Love', 'Tell Me', 'Since I Fell For You' and 'I'd Die'). Jim Drake's lushly orchestrated arrangements which had the sound of their earlier Calico Records material were quite stunning and complimented the groups stellar vocal harmonies. A one disc deal was struck with Viscount Records which released 'Comes Love b/w 'Tell Me' in December 1962. The record got heavy airplay around Pittsburg and various other markets in the United States but only managed to reach as high as #128 on the 'Bubbling Under' chart. The record would however, be reissued in late 1965 but once again received minimal sales. In June 1963, 'Since I Fell For You' b/w/ 'I'd Die' was found in record stores displaying the Atco logo. Curiously, two known Motown Records test pressings were discovered but it was evidently withdrawn and it was Atco which issued the disc. The top side was a fine production yet didn't make too many waves among record buyers. Lenny Welch would ultimately have a worldwide hit with the song on Cadence Records just three months later. Years later, a disc jockey would revive the obscure hidden flipside 'I'd Die' (composed by Jimmy Beaumont and the groups manager Joe Rock) which garnered another unofficial pressing of the single on the Coast label on both black and colored vinyl.
