This is located at Theppakadu, not far from the reception centre. Visitation is restricted to morning and evening. Visit to the elephant Camp is rewarding experience. One can learn about the feeding habits of the elephants, especially camp elephants and their routine. This Theppakadu Elephant Camp in Mudumalai Tiger Reserve is one of the oldest camps in the Country. It was established way back in 1927. Presently 24 Elephants are maintained in the Theppakadu Elephant Camp. It shares its boundaries with the states of Karnataka and Kerala. The sanctuary is divided into five ranges – Masinagudi, Thepakadu, Mudumalai, Kargudi and Nellakota. The protected area is home to several endangered and vulnerable species including Indian elephant, Bengal tiger, gaur and Indian leopard. There are at least 266 species of birds in the sanctuary, including critically endangered Indian white-rumped vulture and long-billed vulture. The Western Ghats Nilgiri Sub-Cluster of 6,000 square kilometres (2,300 sq mi), including all of Mudumalai National Park, is under consideration by the UNESCO World Heritage Committee for selection as a World Heritage Site. The Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary was established in 1940, the 2nd oldest national park in India. The National Park covers an area of 217.76 km2 (84.08 sq mi) with the Wildlife Sanctuary covering an additional 103.23 km2 (39.86 sq mi), for a total area of area of 321 km2 (124 sq mi). In April 2007, the Tamil Nadu state government declared Mudumalai to be a tiger reserve, in an effort to conserve the country's dwindling tiger populations. Ooty is one of the finest hill station in India and also called as "Queen of Mountain". All the local and International tourist come to Ooty throughout the year.
