Karnataka Minister K.J. George's Aide Trapped By Lokayukta In Bribery Case | India Today News

In Karnataka, the Special Duty Officer to Energy Minister K.J. George has been arrested by the Lokayukta in a bribery case. The officer, Jyoti Prakash, allegedly demanded a 1 lakh rupee bribe to issue a No Objection Certificate (NOC). He was reportedly trapped and caught while accepting an advance of 50,000 rupees. Prakash, who is also an assistant engineer at KPTCL, and his driver, Naveen, have both been taken into custody. An investigation is now underway to determine if a larger network is involved in the corruption charges. In response to the arrest, the government has stated that "the law will take its own course of action" and that the officer could be suspended if the allegations are proven.
