Purchased a medium in this jacket from Boyne Country Sport for ~$250. This one fits me well and is the NON INSULATED version. I did try the large and it was too large for me. For reference 5’ 9” ~170lb. Chest is 39in and arms are 32in. This isn’t the smolder blue I thought they had. The Patagonia website itself seems to have a smolder blue that’s fully blue without the yellow but this one actually looks good so I’m fine with it. It’s not goretex which is a material itself. It’s more of a jacket that is rated to their h2No metric meaning that it’s waterproof to a “similar” level to goretex. Water glides right off so I don’t have an issue. I think norrona lofoten fits me pretty well if looking for a similar shell jacket to this. Arms are longer on the norrona in medium than it is on this jacket. Still technically looked fine on me. Norrona has some concerns/issues with zipper quality and they’re a bit pricier but they do have warranties. It’s just annoying. Anyways for this powder town jacket, great shell and seems like this is a mid tier jacket that’ll last me for a bit. For my layering: Base layer: smartwool intraknit (see my older video) Mid layer: arcteryx atom LT 2020 (may be slightly different now, I believe it’s atom LT hoody) Outer layer: Patagonia powder town jacket Ski Bib: outdoor research carbide bib (see older video) technically I have my base layer and then I wear my ski bib since I straps up to my shoulder, AND THEN I wear my mid layer over that. If you’re colder I think you could get another thin fleece in between the base/mid layer, or you could wear a sleeveless vest above your mid layer so it isn’t as constricting. My layering should work for me to about 10-15F. Whistler conditions in early March time at top of mountains at least.
