Morning Meteorologist Ryan DePhillips has a look at the weather ahead. Not-as-cold morning temperatures are once present with partly to mostly clear skies, occasional gusts of winds, & dry air. Air temperatures in the north are starting off mostly from around the high teens to the 40s, while elsewhere to the southwest, air temperatures are ranging from the high 20s to the low 60s. Even higher above-normal high temperatures are set for today, the highest so far this year. Areas from East New Mexico to the Pecos River Valley area will range from the high 60s to even near 90° from northwest to southeast from high to low elevation. Gusty northwesterly winds from aloft will go up, over, and down the southeast-sloped mountain faces, gusting up to at least to 35-55 mph, leading to the milder process at the surface in this area as a result. The northern higher elevations will range from the high 40s to the 50s, while the northern valley floors to western and central areas will mostly range from the upper 60s to the lower 80s. Fire weather chances will be slightly higher today with elevated to locally critical fire threat conditions tomorrow afternoon. The ridge of high pressure, also responsible for the warming process ahead, will steer in some clouds with stronger northwesterly downsloping winds in northern areas, with the gusts with some patchy blowing dust and some reduced visibility occasionally as a result. Despite a weak backdoor front moving through tomorrow, temperatures will rise back up even more for many this weekend with dry air and some breezy conditions occasionally.
