From Dalian’s Oldest Seaside Park to Asia’s Largest City Square｜Dalian Xinghai Coastal Walk

This video begins in Xian Road, a commercial area in Dalian, China. From there, we take Tram No. 202 to Xinghai Park. Built in 1909, Xinghai Park is the oldest seaside park in Dalian. Originally named Hoshigaura Park and developed by the South Manchuria Railway Company, it was intended to attract Western visitors. Today, it features traditional pavilions, tree-shaded paths, and a popular beach, making it one of the city's top summer getaways. After arriving at Xinghai Park, we walk along the scenic Xinghai Bay coastline, passing ocean views, sea breeze, and green landscapes, all the way to Xinghai Square. Constructed between 1993 to 1997, Xinghai Square was built on reclaimed land from a former salt field. Covering 1.76 million square meters, it is the largest city square in Asia. Originally built to commemorate Hong Kong’s return, it features the Century Sculpture and Footprint Wall, both honoring Dalian’s history.
