Vera Baboun talks about the journey of Palestinian women in leadership and the political and socio-cultural challenges they encounter. In addition, she expands on the concepts of tokenism, the glass ceiling effect, and successful leadership. Vera Baboun is a researcher and advocate with an active role in the political empowerment of women in the Middle East. She was elected as the first Woman Mayor (2012) of the Bethlehem Municipal Council, since its inception in 1857. Moreover, since 2018, Baboun has been a member of the Palestinian National Council and the General Union of Palestinian Women.
