Patreon.com/SamPopkin I'm Gonna Sit Right Down And Cry (Over You) was originally recorded by Roy Hamilton, but made famous by Elvis Presley on his debut self-titled album in 1956. The Beatles often covered the song in their early days. It makes an appearance in their famous 1962 Star-Club, Hamburg performance My cover is based on their 1963 Pop Go The Beatles BBC performance, released on the 1994 album 'Live At The BBC'. They recorded it on July 16th, 1963 and the radio program aired on August 6th John and Paul share lead vocals, and Ringo plays what is (in my opinion) his most talented drum performance. John plays rhythm guitar on his 1958 Rickenbacker 325 into a Vox AC-30. George plays lead guitar on his 1963 Gretsch Country Gentleman, also into an AC-30 I'm using Michael's 1982 Rickenbacker 320b on the middle position (neck and bridge pickups). And his 2016 Gretsch Country Gentleman on the bridge pickup. Both guitars are plugged into the top boost channel of my Vox AC-30C2x, mic'd with a Neumann TLM-103 George's lead guitar tone is crunchy, due to his AC-30 amp overdriving. I turned up the top boost volume knob on my AC-30 to match his tone. You can see my exact settings on my Patreon!
