I wanted to do a meat time-lapse outside, so even the weather would affect the meat. But I knew it would attract animals, so I put it in a cage. I wasn't completely sure how effective the cage would be, but I just winged it and started filming. Sure enough, a cat came along and noticed the ground beef very early on. When I realized the cage was ineffective, I removed the ground beef and replaced it with dry cat food pebbles, since they don't spoil as fast. I just didn't want the cat to get sick from spoiled meat. The second attempt was still a failure, as the cat didn’t visit again for two days, and I sort of gave up. I stopped filming, planning to resume a bit later. But that was a mistake, because the cat ate the cat food exactly when the camera wasn’t rolling ^^ For the third attempt, I wanted to make sure nothing would sabotage my time lapse of the cat stealing food from the cage. So I put a large 256GB SD card in the camera, set the interval to 3 seconds, and promised myself I’d keep filming no matter how long it took. Just a bit of calculation on what that 3 second interval really means: 1 photo every 3 seconds, each photo 8MB. That’s 20 shots per minute. 20 × 8MB = 160MB per minute, 9.6GB per hour, and 230GB per day. I needed that cat to come quick, and I got lucky. He came and beautifully ate up all the cat food that was placed out for him :) 🎵 Music Eleven Hours a Night - Yehezkel Raz Fun fact: Cats can see UV light, so they might spot glowing pee trails left by their prey! #cat #timelapse #food
