How To Remove Your Resin Project From the Mould

Removing your finished resin piece from the mould is one of the final steps of resin casting, and doing it right is important to avoid damage. Rushing this step can cause warping or cracks. Depending on the resin, curing can take between 24 and 72 hours, so be patient and wait until it’s completely set. 💡 Once it’s cured, gently loosen the edges of the mould by peeling them back. For silicone molds, you can bend and flex the mold, which helps release the piece. If you're using a harder mould, like plastic or metal, make sure to use a mould release spray before pouring your resin to make this step easier. 💡 If you feel resistance, don’t force it! Let it sit for a few more hours, or try placing the mold in the freezer for about 10-15 minutes. The cold will help the resin contract slightly, making it easier to release. 💡 For smaller or intricate moulds, using a soft demoulding tool can help gently lift the piece out.
