How to repair a Smiths / Jaeger RVC type tachometer (rev counter, tacho) using the Clocks4Classics UniTacho Repair Kit. This kit can be used to repair most tachometers with a moving coil movement - very common on classic cars. The kit replaces the existing electronics with a modern surface mount circuit board. No soldering is needed and there is no need to remove the needle or dial of the tacho. The new circuit board has built in push button calibration and does not require connection to a computer or phone. The kit will work with 4, 6, or 8 Cylinder cars and can be configured for positive or negative earth using contact breakers or electronic ignition. If your car uses a Tacho Generator to drive the Tachometer this will no longer be needed as the kit uses a signal directly from the ignition coil.
