WRESTLE-1 singles match - 2014.11.1 After failing to become the 1st WRESTLE-1 Champion following a loss in the finals of a tournament to Masayuki Kono, KAI has hit rock bottom and his claims of being the Ace of WRESTLE-1 he now admits are invalid. During KAI's low point he became reclusive from his friends, but one man attempted reach out to pick him up, that man was Ryota Hama, someone a senior in age to KAI but a junior in terms of experience in wrestling. Hama offer himself to KAI as an ally and tool to allow KAI to rebound from his devastating defeat via a new tag team opportunity. While all this was taking place, KAI had a singles match scheduled for Keiji Mutoh's 30th anniversary event "Hold Out" with no opponent set. Looking to kickstart the revival of his career, KAI decided to approach ZERO1's Masato Tanaka backstage after a show and request for Tanaka to be his opponent, Tanaka recalled KAI's promise to become the WRESTLE-1 Champion and established as Ace just recently which had all fallen through, but KAI brought up a childhood favourite of his, Atsushi Onita, whose career resurgence began with a loss and who better to face off against than a disciple of Onita's. Tanaka then mentioned that he had no intention of being a stepping stone for KAI, but if KAI wanted to learn his place by facing Tanaka, then Tanaka would also like to find out. Tanaka then asked if this was a match between WRESTLE-1 & ZERO1 or a match just between the individuals involved to which KAI said it was just about the two men, not the companies. Tanaka ended the discussion by mentioning that he didn't know if KAI would follow the same path as Onita, but that the seed was there and that KAI should put his other feelings aside and just focus on the match.
