Tintwistle Knarr used to be one of my 'easy start' routes until my favourite parking point was blocked off because of fly tipping in covid lockdown. But... I just moved back my starting point back into Tintwistle village to include EXTRA WALKING! Now I begin from Holybank Quarry and take in the Low Moor on the way to my old route. It means it's less of a nip when you want a short wander but the Low Moor is a nice easy walk mostly, and it takes you to a selection of choices to head up higher and see the plane wrecks or go the way I do in this video, through the woods and past some excellent views over Longdendale valley. Ok then, as I said... we'll be starting in Tintwistle at the old quarry, heading across the low moor with some already splendid views. Once we reach the edge of the higher moorland of Robinson's Moss, we'll be dropping down slightly into the woods and following the straightforward trail steeply up toward Tintwistle Knarr itself, a popular spot with climbers as you would guess when you saw it. After the series of viewpoints along the way we'll bob up onto Robinson's Moss and across some soggy moorland to Millstone Rocks, where we'll have a panoramic view of the valley and clough. Heading across the top of the rocks in the strong wind, we'll dip slightly into Hollins Clough for a brief respite and take in the river and small waterfalls, before heading up again to our final destination of Lad's Leap! Once again the weather put a dampener on my original plan of heading into the clough under Millstone rocks for an explore and also over one final bit of moorland to take some final views in over Crowden. It started to rain and then hail as soon as I got to Lad's Leap so I took that to mean I'd used up all my hill luck for one day and wrapped it up there. I'll get it again in warmer days I'm sure. The wind once I got up over the Knarr was top tier, I've done some sound correction but if at any point where I'm out on open moorland, the birdsong and ambient sound takes a dive for the sound of muffled wind! Hopefully I've made it tolerable enough to not warrant muting your speakers/earphones though. I never used to pay much mind to the wind on the moors, but take a microphone out with you and you notice it pretty quickly :-D If you fancy another nearby walk, have a gander of my other video just over the reservoir opposite. To Bramah Edge: • PEAK DISTRICT WALKING TOUR - The Devil's E... I went for a look at the purple heather whilst it was in season and a scramble on the rocks. Thanks so much for anybody that has subscribed to my channel so far, it's appreciated. And if you haven't yet... then please do! Giz a like to the video too if you enjoyed any of it.. it gives me a smile to see it pop up on my phone.
